CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police are investigating a bank fraud incident are asking the public for assistance.

The victim lost his wallet or had his pocket picked at the Cracker Barrel in Smyrna, TN. He reported the lost wallet to the bank in Smyrna initially, thinking he had lost the wallet.

On March 23, a black male approximately 60-70 years old wearing a black, brown and gray striped sweater style pullover and a black hat entered the Capital Bank on Wilma Rudolph Blvd in Clarksville. The unknown suspect produced a TN driver’s license with the victim’s name and stated he wanted to withdraw $7,000.

After signing the withdrawal slip with the correct account number and a signature that appeared to be similar to the victim’s signature, the teller completed the transaction and the suspect left with the cash. The suspect’s demeanor throughout the entire transaction was calm, and he showed no signs of being nervous.
