CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Members of the Kentucky State Troopers Vehicle Enforcement Unit along with Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies took a man into custody Wednesday for the stabbing death of a man in Clarksville earlier this week.

The suspect, 35-year-old Rodney Keith Brown, was apprehended in Olmstead, Ky. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he will likely be extradited to Montgomery County later today.

The stabbing occurred Monday night on Cherry Tree Drive. The victim, 31-year-old Stephen Jones of Chestnut St. in Clarksville, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later died.

According to an arrest warrant, two witnesses told police Jones went into the kitchen with Brown, and the witnesses then heard loud talking and a thud. One of the witnesses walked into the kitchen and saw Brown with the knife in his hand.

The witness said Brown threw the knife in the sink before leaving the scene.

“We greatly appreciate the assistance and professionalism of our law enforcement partners in Kentucky in this case,” said Officer Natalie Hall, spokesperson for the Clarksville Police Department.
