Susan Carol Weakley Elliott, age 75, of Clarksville died in her home of 49 years on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
Visitation and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church, Main at Third Street. The service will be officiated by Pastor Greg Glover, with musicians and ushers serving from the congregation. Susan’s ashes will be strewn in the Memorial Garden at the church, following the service.
Susan was born on July 24, 1940 in Clarksville, the daughter of the late Thomas Plaster Weakley and Myrtle Williams Weakley. She graduated Clarksville High School, class 1958, and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, class 1962 with a home economics degree specializing in textiles and clothing.
She was the Home Service Advisor for CEMC, the rural electric service, for four years and later contracted to demonstrate home appliances in retail stores in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky including the family store, Phillips Elliott TV & Appliances Sales & Service. As a second career Susan and her husband operated a multi-line insurance agency in Clarksville for 26 years and was bookkeeper for Madison Business Circle until she retired in 2006. Susan was an active quilter and published a book of her quilts in 2011. She was an Elder at First Presbyterian.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, C David Elliott; two sons Phillips (Chuck) Elliott and wife Susan of Memphis and John Elliott of The Hague, Netherlands. She was honored with five grandchildren: Phillips, Laura, Thomas, Sara and Julia. Her three siblings are Don Weakley and wife Clara, Linda McWhorter both of Clarksville and Judy Weakley of Nashville.
