METROPOLIS, IL- (CLARKSVILLENOW) This year marks the 40th year the city of Metropolis, Illinois has hosted the Superman Celebration to honor the Man of Steel. What started as a 1-day community event has grown into a 4-day festival attracting Superman and comic enthusiasts from around the globe.

Fans come in to meet Superman related celebrities, attend autograph sessions, and get up close and personal with comic writers and artists.

“We are excited and proud of what this event has been able to become and what it does for the town of Metropolis,” stated Karla Ogle who co-chairs the event with Lisa Gower. “This year is particularly special for us as we celebrate our 40th event, Superman is celebrating his 80th Anniversary as well,” said Gower. With the celebrity and artist roster for 2018 it will be one for the record books.

Featured celebrity guests include Brandon Routh “Superman” from Superman Returns and from the new hit series Krypton, Shaun Sipos who plays “Adam Strange” and Blake Ritson who portrays “Braniac.” Featured guests will be available to meet and greet fans during the VIP sponsor and ticketed autograph sessions on Saturday, June 9th.

Special celebrity guests who will be appearing for autographs throughout the celebration include: John Haymes Newton, “Superboy” from the Superboy series, Jeff East, “Young Clark Kent” in Superman the Movie, Aaron Smolinski “Baby Superman” in Superman the Movie, Jack O’Halloran, who portrayed the villain “Non” in Superman the Movie and producer of Superman I, II, III movies as well as Superboy and Supergirl, Ilya Salkind.

Artist Alley will be filled with the top artists and writers from the graphic novel world. Guests this year include, Philo Barnhart, Alex Saviuk, Art Baltazar, Peter Poplaski, and author Michael Eury. Celebration attendees can meet these wonderful artists and writers as well as many other talented guests free of charge in Artist Alley all 4 days of the Superman Celebration from The Greater Metropolis Convention & Visitors Bureau

The 40th Annual Superman Celebration schedule is packed full of things to see and do during the event including kids games, A Superhero Training Academy for the kids, Costume Contests and a nightly carnival.
