CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club presented Loaves & Fishes with a $10,000 donation Friday, June 5, to be used for their new facility under construction at 825 Crossland Ave.
Aubree Nikolao, Sunrise Rotary Club President, said the organization became aware that Loaves & Fishes needed funds to purchase new kitchen equipment.
“We know that Loaves & Fishes has a great impact on our community and that’s really the mission of Rotary,” Nikolao said.
Loaves & Fishes Executive Director, Dr. Rita Burnett, talked about the donation. “This is amazing, it’s generous and it’s going to help us complete our commercial kitchen and dining room facility. It will also help us expand our services so we can serve more clients,” Burnett said.
Loaves & Fishes currently serves those in need at the First Presbyterian Church Activities and Outreach Center at 215 Foster St. and Burnett said they have experienced a 125 percent increase in people they serve since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
The anticipated date for opening the new building and to be serving food to their clients is January 1, 2021.
