CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Sunrise Rotary Club will host the annual Clarksville Sunrise Century 2013 bicycle tour for the tenth year in a row the morning of August 31.

The Labor Day weekend event will take place at Rossview High School, located just off I-24 exit 8 in Clarksville. The ride starts at 6:45 a.m. with “The Elite Peloton”, followed by the 33 and 100 mile at 7 a.m. and the 62 mile, starting an hour later.

Commonly known as “the easiest 100 miles you’ll ever pedal,” the Sunrise Century has also been called the “fastest, easiest and safest” 100 mile bicycle ride in the United States. It is the country’s only officially documented sub – four hour 100 mile ride with a running time of 3:44:55, and was featured in the June 2012 issue of Bicycling magazine as 5th on the list of the top 10 century rides in the United States.

Proceeds from the bicycle tour will go to fund scholarships for local college scholarships, clean water projects abroad, and the support of many area non-profits related to health, hunger and literacy.

Participants can pre-register from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. August 30 at the former Wingate Inn (now La Quinta Inns and Suites), located at 251 Holiday Drive off exit 4. Final registration begins at 5:50 a.m. the day of the event at Rossview High School.
