CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation has partnered with Five Star Media Group and event co-sponsors Zaxby’s, Cornerstone Financial Credit Union, and Clarksville Disposal to host the 6th Annual “Stuff the Bus” supply drive which benefits The CMC Teacher Warehouse, a Free Supply store.
Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to take part in the Stuff the Bus Campaign by volunteering, donating supplies, making monetary donations, at the various Wal-Mart locations in Clarksville on Sunday, July 26 at Wal-Mart on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard or Fort Campbell Boulevard from noon to 5 p.m.
Wal-Mart stores plan to have overstock of school supplies for the event.
The Teacher Warehouse began in 2010 to equip CMCSS teachers who may not be able to afford them with free classroom supplies.
During the creation of the free supply store, national research reflected that teachers spend on average $500-$1000 to provide students with needed materials to be successful.
Through annual supply drives like Stuff the Bus, community, individual, and business supply and monetary donations the Teacher Warehouse produced more than 30,000 supplies this past school year. In the past five years the program has saved local teachers nearly $222,000 in out-of-pockets expenses for classroom materials.
Volunteers will also be needed to help “Un-Stuff the Bus” July 27-29 to prepare for new teacher shoppers at the Central Services South location, 1312 Hwy 48/13.
