CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Local high school students were selected as service ambassadors for the 2019 – 2020 Lead United Student Service Council.
Lead United is a student leadership council focusing on leadership development and volunteerism in the local area. These ambassadors will serve on a student executive committee to research, discuss and implement solutions to various social justice issues identified throughout the community as well as aid in spreading awareness among their peers.
“Lead United service ambassadors prove that no matter how young, you can make an impact and lead the community to the better,” said Sarah Wood, United Way Community Engagement Director. “We are thrilled to see what the Lead United students do this year as they begin collaborating to solve key issues.”
Ambassadors will meet once a month to plan, coordinate and complete one to two community projects each year. The topics of research include: Mental Health, Trauma Violence, Homelessness and Food Insecurity.
A selection committee reviewed the applications and selected candidates based on their qualities of leadership, service, creativity and awareness about the Clarksville community.
“We are eager to have these students be a part of leading our community,” said Valerie Guzman, United Way CEO. “These students are truly inspiring.”
