CLARKSVILLE, TN − Allison Blain, a student at Austin Peay State University, was awarded on August 2, a P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education Grant for $4,000 from P.E.O. International. Allison was sponsored by the local P.E.O. Chapter BI of Clarksville. Chapter BI has been a part of the Clarksville community since it was organized in March 2018.
The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the U.S. and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school. The grant allows women to complete a degree or certification that will improve their marketable skills for employment and support themselves and their families.
Ms. Blain is pursuing a Bachelor of Agriculture in Sustainable Development with a minor in Environment. In addition to working toward a bachelor’s degree, Allison will study how to become a successful apiarist to help take care of and propagate bee populations. After graduation, Allison’s goal is to create an inclusive homestead community on her grandparents’ land and work to restore the bee population.
