MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A street sign that was vandalized with what appears to be a threatening message toward law enforcement was discovered this week on N. Liberty Church Rd.

A ClarksvilleNow.com reader submitted a photo of the sign, which says, “Kill a cop, stop ticket.”

“It is horrible to think this is happening so close to home. Our police deserve to know that the majority of our citizens respect them for what they do,” the reader said in an email to ClarksvilleNow.com.

Officer Natalie Hall with the Clarksville Police Department and Jamie Dexter with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said both agencies have been made aware of the vandalism and have told officers and deputies to be on the lookout and aware of their surroundings.

“There is nothing to attach this to any person as far as an investigation. Of course, if anyone has any information as to who wrote this, we would like to know,” Hall said.

The street department has since repaired the sign.

This case is not currently being investigated, but anyone who has information can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS (8477).
