Update, 4:45 p.m.: A Wind Advisory is in effect for Montgomery County from 10 p.m. tonight until midnight Saturday night. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” the NWS said.

Update, 11:05 a.m.: Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Flood Watch from late tonight through late Saturday night.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas,” the NWS said.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The first of two waves of storms should reach Clarksville Friday night between midnight and 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Friday night

At this point, there’s a 30%-44% chance of severe wind of 58 mph or more in Clarksville, with straight-line winds over 75 mph possible. There’s a 15%-29% chance of hail greater than 1 inch in diameter, and a slight chance of a tornado.

The NWS notes that Friday night’s storm is a “boom or bust” situation. “If storms aren’t realized Friday night, don’t let your guard down for Saturday,” the NWS said. There may be a break between the two waves of storms, or they could become continuous.

Saturday afternoon, evening

The second wave also carries a 30%-44% chance of severe wind of 58 mph or more in Clarksville, with straight-line winds over 75 mph possible.

There’s a 30%-44% chance of hail greater than 1 inch in diameter on Saturday, possibly over 2 inches. There’s also an increased risk of tornadoes.

Through the weekend, Clarksville could get up to 2 inches of rainfall, which could lead to flooding.

  • Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 55. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.
