CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Due to heavy rains, numerous trees and power lines are down throughout the county. The National Weather Service reported between six to seven and one half inches of rain in Montgomery County.
The rain is forecast to continue throughout Friday with flash flooding possible. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 5:30 this afternoon which includes a wind advisory through 1 p.m. There is a River Flood Advisory for the Cumberland River until Saturday with a River Flood Warning until Sunday. The Friday forecast is for a high of 67, clouds and rain tonight, low 55. Morning rain tomorrow, then turning sunny, high 76.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the storm caused a sinkhole to re-open on I-24 and another possible sinkhole has developed on Vaughn Rd. off of Martin Luther King Parkway.
Reports of two sinkholes in the county. One on shoulder of I24E at MM 9.5. The other near 670 Vaughn Road.

Emergency Management Agency is requesting that drivers avoid the following road areas due to high waters: Thomas Street; Babwell and Smith; Crossland and Richardson; Salem and Bend; the 2000 area of Trenton Road; Hwy 76 and Rosson; Alfred Thun and Corporate Drive; Talley Drive; the 600 area of Salem Road; 3162 Cooper Creek Road. Please seek alternate routes.

Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director Jerry Buchannan said they are aware of about four structures that were damaged by wind. The door of one home was damaged by a falling tree, the roof of another was damaged by a tree that fell, and the roof of a mobile home was blown off. The Halloween Express inflatable pumpkin off of Morris Rd. was also blown down.
The Nashville Weather in Nashville has issued a flood advisory at the Cumberland River, affecting Montgomery County. The Cumberland is due to rise from to more than 45 feet by Saturday morning. By 5 a.m. Friday morning the Cumberland was at 26 feet.
