CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A deputy tracked down and caught a burglary suspect Thursday afternoon.
In the early afternoon hours, the deputy was flagged down by a citizen who told him a man appeared to be breaking into storage units at the Red Dot Storage facility near Exit 11, according to an news release from MCSO Sgt. Bishop Delaney. The deputy drove through the property and saw multiple storage units that appeared to have been broken into by force.
The deputy spotted a vehicle and tried to contact the driver; however, the vehicle drove off. The vehicle fled but rammed through the property fence and got stuck, Delaney said. The driver then ran from the vehicle. The deputy patrolled the area and was able to find the driver nearby and take him into custody.
The driver was booked into Montgomery County Jail on charges of evading arrest, burglary, theft of property, auto theft and misuse of registration.
