CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A storage shed in a Clarksville neighborhood caught fire Wednesday morning.

According to Fire Marshal Ray Williams, the blaze was reported at 9:41 a.m. at 1403 Callywood Ct. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but the contents of the storage shed were destroyed.

The homeowner told firefighters that he had mowed his lawn and his neighbor’s lawn earlier with a riding mower. When he finished, he put the mower back in the storage shed without letting the motor cool down.

Gasoline cans were stored inside the shed near the mower and the owner was unsure whether all the cans had proper caps. Investigators believe the gasoline vapors were ignited by heat from the mower’s engine and the fire was ruled accidental.

No injuries were reported and no other structures were affected.
