The incident occurred on the US 68 Bypass/Eagle Way at the KY 272 intersection.
The guts spilled across the eastbound lanes, causing traffic backups for several hours. The road has since been cleared.
Christian County Emergency Management responded to the scene to handle the “foul-smelling, sticky, messy, clean up effort,” according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet PIO Keith Todd.
After the initial cleanup, crews placed salt on the road to absorb remaining material. However, officials said the pungent odor may linger for several days.
