Who would have thought that the number one fashion statement of 2020 would be a face mask?
Monday, July 6, Mayor Durrett signed Executive Emergency Order #9, requiring the use of face masks by employees of businesses open to the public.
The CDC recommends the use of face masks, along with social distancing and regular hand washing, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As the price of disposable masks has increased, many have taken to purchasing reusable cloth masks featuring designs that compliment their personal taste.
Cloth masks featuring a favorite sports team, hobby or fandom have become a common site.
In order to help with the surge in demand, the home-based, military family-owned Floss Boss Designs began producing and donating masks. The demand became so great, that the handmade clothing and accessory business has shifted their focus entirely to masks
“If we have to wear a mask, it should be one that makes us smile (even if no one can see it),” says the Floss Boss Website.
Since April 4, they have made over 5,000 custom masks for sale or donation, with fans sporting Floss Boss designs from Hawaii to Canada.
Located right here in Clarksville, their made-to-order, cotton masks feature two layers, with a pocket for filters, an adjustable nose wire and elastic ear loops.
Floss Boss also has gaiters, a type of multi-functional scarf/face cover/headband. They are machine wash/dry and perfect for a quick trip to the grocery story or post office.
Both products are made to order with 2-4 days turnaround on local orders. They boast an impressive 100+ prints, characters, teams and solid colors to choose from. There’s even a mask selfie gallery so that you can see what each design looks like when worn.
