CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Getting into the weekend, temperatures are expected to rise and the public is urged to prepare for extreme heat. In the wake of Barry’s rain and flooding, stifling heat and humidity will take over in the region over the next few days.
The National Weather Service is forecasting some of the hottest weather so far this year with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 90’s through Sunday and heat index values from 100 to 105 degrees during the afternoon hours.
Air quality is also likely to be poor with haze and little air circulation.
Anyone who has to be outdoors over the next few days is urged to be careful. Meteorologist Matt Reagan talked about the heat. “The biggest thing is to stay hydrated ahead of time. Make sure you are taking breaks in the shade and cooling off occasionally,” said Reagan.
