DOVER, Tenn. – WKRN reports that students at Stewart County High School in Dover were treated Wednesday, Nov. 13 after ingesting a suspicious seed at the school.
According to school district leaders, the students consumed Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, which is known for hallucinogenic properties. Assistant Director of Schools Leta Joiner told News 2 the seed can be purchased online.
Five students were taken to Gateway Medical Center after the principal was notified around lunchtime some students were displaying erratic behavior, Director of Schools Dr. Phillip Wallace said. Three students have been released, and two are still under observation.
Eighteen students initially admitted to school officials to being in contact with the seeds in the last 24 hours and were checked for symptoms.
Parents were also told to monitor their children for symptoms.
It is unclear if the students will face any disciplinary actions.
