CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A joint effort by multiple agencies resulted in the successful capture of a Stewart County man suspected of attempted second degree murder. Thomas Reynolds, 36, was apprehended by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Sunday after a two-hour search in a wooded area near a Montgomery County subdivision.
Agencies involved in the search included Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Clarksville Police Department, and Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The Stewart County Sheriff’s Office first alerted the public to be on the lookout for Reynolds on October 18. Reynolds was wanted for attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault, domestic assault, reckless endangerment, and felon in possession of a handgun.
He was apprehend on Butts Road in Montgomery County around 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20.

Law enforcement were first alerted by a clerk at the Dollar General on Dover Road. The employee called 911 after observing Reynolds purchase a wig, hat, jeans, shirt, food and hygiene products. Shortly afterwards a homeowner in the area called 911 after noticing a suspicious man running into the wooded area behind their house.
“Teamwork between multiple law enforcement agencies and the public lead to the successful capture of Reynolds,” said Sheriff John Fuson. “I especially want to thank the public for their reporting and support while we worked to apprehend Reynolds.”
Reynolds was booked into the Stewart County Jail. His bond is $127,500.
