CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – There is a special golf tournament, “Halloween Havoc”, coming up this Saturday, October 31 at Swan Lake Golf Course. The tournament is special because it’s a fundraiser to help honor the memory of the late Dr. Keith Peterson.
Horace Heggie spoke with Clarksvillenow.com to share the story of a statue and a man devoted to, his family, the community and the game of golf. Heggie said he used to play a lot of golf with Dr. Peterson, a local Urologist, who passed away in May of this year.
“This was Mary Fisher’s idea and she wanted to do the statue to honor Dr. Peterson and his starting of the Clarksville Junior Golf Tour (CJGT), and I am just having the tournament to help her pay for the statue,” said Heggie.
Heggie added that most of the golfers who have signed up for Saturday’s tournament knew Dr. Peterson and he had some type of impact on their life through golf. A ceremony was held Wednesday, October 21 to unveil the statue at Swan Lake Golf Course.
Saturday’s “Halloween Havoc” tournament is a 3-man scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The cost is $300 per team, $100 per player and that includes 27 holes of golf and lunch. For more details call Horace Heggie at 931-320-2809 or email jhoraceheggiejr@gmail.com.
