CLARKSVILLE, TN – House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, R-Goodlettsville, has named State Rep. Jeff Burkhart, R-Clarksville, to fill one of nine Deputy Whip positions within the Tennessee House Republican Caucus for the 113th Tennessee General Assembly.

“I appreciate Rep. Burkhart’s dedication and willingness to serve both our caucus and our state,” Garrett said. “Tennessee continues to thrive under Republican leadership, and he will help support our efforts to ensure that continues.”

As Deputy Whip, Burkhart will assist in counting votes as well as communicating with members about the Republican supermajority’s position on issues or legislative initiatives of importance. He will support Garrett who is the fourth-ranking officer of the House Republican Caucus.

“It’s an honor to be asked by Rep. Garrett to serve in this capacity,” Burkhart said. “I look forward to working with leadership and my colleagues to continue moving Tennessee forward with responsible, conservative legislation.”

Burkhart joins newly named Deputy Whips Gino Bulso, R-Brentwood; Ed Butler, R-Rickman; Elaine Davis, R-Knoxville; Monty Fritts, R-Kingston; Michael Hale, R-Smithville; Jake McCalmon, R-Franklin; Bryan Richey, R-Maryville; and Robert Stevens, R-Smyrna.
