NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Officials have issued a state of emergency for Tennessee ahead of an approaching winter storm that is expected to bring sleet, snow and strong winds to the state.
Tennessee’s emergency management office issued the state of emergency Thursday. Weather forecasters say the storm is expected to hit the state Friday, with 4 to 6 inches of snow expected in parts of the state.

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a winter storm warning for Friday morning through Saturday morning.
Officials are warning motorists of hazardous driving conditions. Forecasters say travel will be difficult, if not impossible, during the storm on Friday.
