CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Governors Square Mall was invaded Saturday by members of the 501st MidSouth Garrison, Star Wars characters who used “The Force” to raise funds for Dreams and Wishes of Tennessee. The public was invited to stop by, make a recommended donation, and take a photo with their favorite Star Wars character.

It was a very special day for Bella, a nine-year-old girl from Clarksville suffering from Osteoarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Dreams and Wishes granted her wish of going to North Carolina, to spend time on the Beach and visit some of her relatives who live there. Dreams and Wishes Program Director, Tanya Sturm thanked the 501st MidSouth Garrison for their support and helping to grant Bella’s wish as well as other wishes.

“Dreams and Wishes grants wished to kids that have relapsed from cancer and then we also grant wishes to 18-21 year-old adults that have a new cancer diagnosis, and we cover the entire state of Tennessee,” said Sturm. All of the money raised at the event was given to Dreams and Wishes.

The 501st MidSouth Garrison is part of the 501st Legion, the world’s definitive Imperial costuming group. Their active members from both Tennessee and Kentucky and they are one of the largest of the dozens of garrisons nationwide. The group uses their talents, as well as “The Force”, to support many nonprofit organizations with their fundraising efforts.
