Stanley E. (Gene) Wyrick, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 72.

Gene was born December 8, 1951, to the late William Harry Wyrick and Nettie Doyle. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Yolanda Lynch and brother, Richard Wyrick.

Gene is survived by his wife, Ginger, son, Christopher (Brittney) Wyrick, daughter, Rachel Kline, daughter, Cayla (Adam) Hawkins, son, Dustin (Samantha) Pangle, sister, Delilah Warner, and grandchildren, Caleb, Sierra, Mikayla, Bailey, Aiden, Ember, and Fenix.

Gene started his military career on December 7th, 1970. His first duty station was Nuremberg General Hospital in Germany. He moved from Nuremberg to Fort Bragg. At Fort Bragg, he assisted in the recovery effort at Jonestown. He was an instructor at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Training Battalion, Medical Branch until 1986. He served in Central Command at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. He transferred to the 32nd Combat Support Hospital in Weisbaden, Germany. He later moved up to the 68th Medical Group Headquarters, also in Weisbaden. While serving there, he suffered a heart attack and was transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he retired in May 1991. In addition to the numerous medals and awards he received, he was a member of the Special Forces.

After retiring from the military, he worked at Progressive Directions for 23 years, where he retired in 2015.

His greatest accomplishment and largest source of joy was his family. He and his wife, Ginger, spent 40 wonderful years together. His second greatest accomplishment was being named the “exceptional male” in the Leaf Chronicle and refused to let anyone forget. He enjoyed playing the guitar and dulcimer and taking his grandchildren fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday May 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home and Saturday May 4, 2024, from 12:30 PM until the hour of service at St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Corrie Alexander-Willette officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
