Stanley E. Bumpus passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. He was at his home, surrounded by family.
Born on February 29, 1952, in Clarksville, TN, son of Norman O’Grady and Myra Jean Fielder Bumpus. He grew up playing baseball, bowling, and working with his father and brother at their service station. A graduate of Clarksville High School. He worked with his father and brother at Bumpus and Sons Body Shop. Stanley served in the National Guard and Navy. He later opened and retired from Hilltop Motors and Body Shop.
He was a great sportsman and lover of the outdoors, especially fishing and playing golf. Stanley’s greatest source of pride and happiness was his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Bumpus. He is survived by his sister, Brenda Brewer; the mother of his children, Sherry Fentress Webb; daughter, Lauren Kent (John); sons, Lane Bumpus (Ashley), and Edwin Bumpus (Shannon); grandchildren, Nathaniel Brown, Emma Brown, Hadley Bumpus, Parker Nicole Kent, Bryce Brown, Brinley Bumpus, Corley Bumpus, Landry Bumpus, John Barton Kent, EJ Bumpus, and Grady Bumpus; and great granddaughter, Lydia Brown.
A special thank you goes out to the loving tender care given to him by the nurses and staff of the Nashville VA Hospital, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center of Clarksville, and Gentiva Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Dressler. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home and Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
