CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Three suspects in a Murfreesboro stabbing were captured in Clarksville on Tuesday, thanks in part to Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology in both communities.

The three are accused of “violently and brutally” attacking and stabbing a man Nov. 24 in the parking lot of Kelton’s Hardware in Murfreesboro, according to a Murfreesboro Police news release. The man is in critical but stable condition.

“Our Crime Data Analysts in our Real Time Crime Center were instrumental in appending these three individuals,” said Murfreesboro Police spokesman Larry Flowers. “The vehicle was tracked on ALPR hits in Clarksville and CPD was notified.”

The suspects led Clarksville Police on a brief car chase Tuesday, starting at 12:52 p.m., according to CPD spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien. Two of them were immediately taken into custody near College Street and Ninth Street. A third was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, at about 1:02 p.m.

An adult male is being held at the Montgomery County Jail on attempted first-degree murder charges. The two juveniles are being transported to the Rutherford Juvenile Detention Center, where juvenile petitions for attempted first-degree murder will be served, MPD said.

While the Clarksville Police Department has requested the installation of Licence Plate Readers, they don’t yet have them. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has two mobile camera units and about 10 stationary cameras that have LPR technology, Sgt. Bishop Delaney confirmed to Clarksville Now.
