CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – St. Bethlehem Little League is getting ready for their 2020 season and along with the action on the field there is something new this year for some very special athletes.

Aaron Birt, President of St. B Little League shared some important statistics saying they are the second largest Little League in Tennessee, the 34th largest in the nation and on average each year they rotate 1,200 to 1,400 players.

What’s new this year is the Little League Challenger Program and Birt said it is an adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

There is a playing field, known as the Rotary Miracle Field, which is 100 percent ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act), located at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane in Clarksville. The field has a synthetic surface with extra wide gates for wheelchair access.

“It’s the best thing in the world to be able to sit back and watch everyone, no matter what your limitations are. Anybody who wants to play now has the ability to play,” said Birt. The Challenger Program is for players ages 4 to 18, or up to 22-years-old if they are still enrolled in school. There is also a Senior League Challenger Division that accommodates ages 15 and above.

Birt said the easiest thing for those who want to play in St. B Little League is to go to Google and search Little League Finder, which lists all of the leagues in Clarksville as well as across the country. Type in your address to find out what league you are part of and you will be sent to their website where you can find out all the information you need to register online.

Birt added for more information about St. B Little league, visit their website or go to their Facebook page.

There are also four St. B Little League registration drives taking place at Governors Square Mall. Those dates are Saturday and Sunday, January 25 and 26 along with February 1 and 2.
