CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The St. Bethlehem 10U softball team faced off against Lafayette at Civitan Park on Tuesday, July 16. The two teams went head-to-head with a state title on the line and timely hitting would power St. Bethlehem to an 8-3 win. With the victory, the Clarksville area softball team won the Little League 10U state title and advanced to regional play next week.

Right from the start, St. B jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through the first two innings. Meanwhile, the team’s defense and pitching held their opponent in check throughout the night. St. Bethlehem only allowed five hits, three runs and struck out seven batters.

St. Bethlehem added three insurance runs to match Lafayette’s late scoring run to capture their state title victory. This is only the second team in St. Bethlehem history to win a state title, with the 12U squad winning a title earlier this month.

“This is a great group of girls,” said St. Bethlehem head coach Michael Custer.  “Didn’t take a whole lot of coaching, they knew what to do. I always had the feeling we would have the chance to do this.”
