CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennessee Titans superfan Jonathan Cable is on a mission to give back to Clarksville while helping lead the team to victory, disguised as the friendly neighborhood hero Spider-Titan.
“I’ve been doing it all the way for the past couple months,” Cable said. “I bought a Spider-Man mask for Halloween one time and got a lot of good feedback off it. A couple years ago, I went to my kids’ school dressed as Spider-Titan where I handed out candy, and the whole place went crazy. I love the Titans so much and always wanted to become a superfan. I figured why not put them both together?”
When he’s not at his day job, Cable can be found around town spreading awareness for his fundraisers, which gives him the ability to provide custom T-shirts, masks and other gifts free of charge for the children of Clarksville and Nashville.
The 34-year-old has already accumulated over 600 followers on his social media fan page in just a few short months.
“I’m just doing it mostly to inspire the kids and to do something different,” Cable said. “All superfans are usually the same in that they just take pictures and go out to games. They don’t really interact with the kids too much. More than anything, I’m just trying to bring their spirits up a little bit because of coronavirus and help bring a little brightness to the world.”
As a father of two, Cable understands how important it is to be a positive role model for the younger generation.
“I’m a hero without the mask because of my kids,” Cable said. “Before recently, I was a single father for the past seven years. I’ve had to sit here and do it by myself. Once they started school, it really opened my eyes to how much kids look up to you.”
Cable, a Clarksville native, attended Kenwood Elementary and Kenwood Middle School before finishing his education in California.
As a season-ticket holder, Cable’s ultimate goal is to one day make it into the Tennessee Titans Fan Hall of Fame.
“For me, I’ve always wanted to have my own big poster inside of the stadium,” Cable said. “Once you get established enough as a superfan, your picture goes on the wall. I’ve always thought to myself, that could be me.”
Cable shared what the Clarksville as well as Nashville area should expect to see from Spider-Titan in the near future.
“Of course this year is going to be a little bit different, but it’s going to get even bigger,” Cable said. “I plan on doing raffles for giveaways, which will include race cars, bikes and all kinds of stuff.”
Spider-Titan’s fan page can be found on Facebook along with his latest adventures, inspirational messages and comic strips.
“People of course know what I look like from Facebook and everything,” Cable said. “I have my own quotes, own shirts and am just trying give back as much as I can.”
