Spam Musubi is a popular Hawaiian treat made from rice and spam wrapped in nori.
The previous record holder for largest spam musubi is Edward Sugimoto of Honolulu. The musubi made by Sugimoto and his team weighed in at 284.86 kilograms (approximately 628 lbs) on Sept. 28, 2012.
As of Jan.1, 2021, the Guinness World Record website has not been updated to show the new record.
According to Guinness’s rules for food-based records, any food used must afterward be donated to a food distribution non profit organization.
After being weighted, the musubi was deconstructed and repackaged for use by Loaves & Fishes.
