Newly formed youth competitive shooting team, Southern Shooting Sports recently had individuals place at a national competition.

This year, the team had 27 youths ranging from 9-18 years shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays. The team competes with the Scholastic Clay Target Program.

One of the team’s squads was comprised of Austin Brown of Montgomery Central Middle School, Ely Weakley of Pleasant View Christian School, and Tyler Byard of Clarksville Academy. The boys placed 1st at regionals, 3rd at state level and 4th nationally in sporting clays.

Austin Brown finished 2nd High Overall in his age division with a 535/600 at nationals and was also recognized on the All-Scholastic Team at Nationals.

The team is coached by Marty Moore.
