CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Since its inception in 2010, the Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament at Ft. Campbell’s Cole Park Commons has drawn both military and Clarksville residents alike out to raise ASPU scholarship funds for dependents of wounded and fallen soldiers at Ft. Campbell.
Each year has been a success, but this year’s two-day event held a special surprise. Ryne Fisher, son of the late Mickey Fisher, hit the first ever elusive hole-in-one this morning. He was rewarded with a Rolex Submariner given to him by Mckenzie & Smiley Jewelers.
“We wait each year to see if someone will hit it,” said Bryan Smiley, of Mckenzie & Smiley Jewelers. “To have Mr. Fisher’s own son be the first to actually make the hole-in-one made it such a special day. The event itself is a great cause, but we are extremely excited and proud to give Mr. Fisher’s own son the Rolex.”
Mickey Fisher was a lifetime resident of Clarksville who taught and coached in the Fort Campbell Independent School System for 33 years. His wife, Mary Fisher, created the endowment to provide educational benefits to dependents of wounded and fallen soldiers at Ft. Campbell. Fisher died in 2009.
