CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’re expected to get 2 to 3 inches of snow in Clarksville, with snowfall starting Sunday night, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. “Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute,” the NWS said.

Significant impacts will likely last into Thursday as temperatures will stay below freezing, meaning the snow will not a chance to melt.

The City of Clarksville Street Department and Montgomery County Highway Department have been preparing for the event, readying their snow plows and salt trucks. But single-digit temperatures may make salt and brine ineffective on icy roads.

High temperatures Sunday through Wednesday are expected to be mostly in the 20s with overnight lows starting tonight in the teens to single digits, the NWS said. Lows in Clarksville could reach 14 Saturday night, 13 Sunday night, 12 Monday night, and 6 Tuesday night. Tuesday’s high may be only 18 degrees.

But it gets worse: Wind chills Monday and Tuesday nights will be below 0. “The cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the NWS said.
