CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With ice lingering from the winter storm, several Clarksville schools and offices are remaining closed, and weekend events are being canceled.
Here are the snow closings and cancellations so far for Clarksville:
Schools
Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools: All CMCSS schools and offices will be closed through Friday. That includes all after-school activities, athletics and practices. If mission-essential employees need to report to work, their supervisors will contact them.
“The sun is great, but this ice is thick!” said CMCSS spokesman Anthony Johnson. “The extremely cold overnight temperatures are not helping, as refreezing is expected to continue over the next few days. Side roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will continue to present safety hazards through the weekend. Please exercise caution if you must travel.”
The School Board meeting has been rescheduled to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29. “Attendees should exercise caution and use only designated, cleared entrances and parking spaces,” Johnson said.
Clarksville Christian School: The CCS campus will be closed through Friday, with remote learning.
Austin Peay State University: All in-person classes will move online through Friday, including the APSU Center at Fort Campbell. Residence halls and dining services remain open, and Campus Police, Facilities and essential personnel will be on campus. Foy Fitness & Recreation Center closed.
Offices and services
City of Clarksville: City offices, City Court, parks and public facilities will be closed through Friday. Essential City public safety personnel will be on duty as usual and all essential City services will continue. The City Council Executive Session meeting originally planned for this week has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 3, at 4:30 p.m.
Clarksville Transit System: Buses and paratransit services are operating on limited routes through Saturday. Click here for limited CTS routes.
Montgomery County Government: Offices will be closed through Friday. For online services, visit the GOV tab at mcgtn.org.
Montgomery County courts: Closed through Friday.
State of Tennessee: State offices will be closed Thursday.
Fort Campbell
Fort Campbell is open only for limited operations through Friday. Emergency essential employees report at normal time unless otherwise directed by your supervisor. Tenant organization employees contact your supervisor for instructions.
Fort Campbell Schools: Closed through Friday. This includes all after-school sports and activities.
Blanchfield Army Community Hospital: Closed through Friday except for emergencies.
Events in Clarksville
History on Tap: The History on Tap scheduled for Thursday, “The Kentucky Civil Rights Act: 60 Years Later,” will be rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Empty Bowls: The Empty Bowls luncheons that were to be this Sunday will be rescheduled to the following dates: Gateway Christian Church, Sunday, Feb. 8, noon- 2 p.m.; Fellowship UMC, Sunday, March 1, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
EMS Station 28 groundbreaking: The event that was to be Thursday has been canceled.
Trustee’s Office open house: The open house that was to be Friday has been postponed until Friday, Feb. 27.
