CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Smith-Trahern Mansion hosted its 33rd Annual Sweetheart Cake Bake on Valentines Day.

Altogether around 100 different types of cakes will eventually become part of the event, which is a fundraiser for the mansion located at 101 McClure Street.

Sponsors and bakers each pay $30 or more to present a cake at the event in 10 different categories, including Fruit and Jam, Coconut, Chocolate, Cheesecake, and many more. A panel of judges chose their favorite from each category.

The mansion is owned by the City of Clarksville and is run through the help of staff and volunteers through the UT Extension Family and Consumer Sciences. Debby Johnson, Director of Smith-Trahern Mansion said each year around $3,000 to $4,000 is raised from the cake bake which is used for repairs and restoration inside the mansion.

Johnson added that the entire event is put on by volunteers who also staff the Smith Trahern Mansion Monday through Friday.
