CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A winter storm warning has been issued for Montgomery County.

ROAD REPORT

The National Weather Service in Nashville says a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected Wednesday.

Rain has turned into a wintry mix and will transition to all snow overnight.

Accumulation is expected to be anywhere from three to six inches through Thursday morning. Ice accumulation may be up to one tenth of an inch.

Clarksville police have responded to at least eight crashes Wednesday evening and have received numerous reports of stuck vehicles. Road conditions continue to deteriorate and citizens are urged to stay home if possible.

Temperatures will drop to 19 degrees. Thursday’s high is 25 degrees with a low of two degrees. Temperatures are likely to stay below freezing through Friday, which could create hazardous road conditions through Friday afternoon.

The flood watch for the area has been canceled.

Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director Jerry Buchanan will open the Emergency Operations Center at 3 p.m. today to monitor and manage weather-related incidents.
