CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – UPDATE: Additional charges have been filed against the 16 driver involved in the accident occurring on October 12, at approximately 8:30 a.m. which left four youths injured. The driver has now been charged with vehicular assault, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

A single vehicle crash left four teenagers injured around October 12 at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The four teenagers, ranging in age from 15-18, were driving south on Memorial Drive extension in a Camaro when another vehicle traveling north was going to make a left turn onto Abbey Lane, but stopped prior to actually making the turn.

The 16 year old driver took evasive action, turning slightly to the right to avoid a collision, and went off the right side of the road down a ditch line. The Camaro hit a utility pole and continued on until motion was stopped after crashing in to a tree.

One of the vehicle’s occupants, 15, was LifeFlighted to a Nashville hospital with multiple injuries. The other three were taken to Tennova with non-life threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the Camaro was traveling 90 miles per hour while on the roadway. After departing the roadway, the speed was reduced, but the tree was still hit at approximately 50 miles per hour. The speed limit on Memorial Drive is 35 miles per hour.

All four of the car’s occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the car was cited for “Driver to Exercise Due Care.”
