CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The City of Clarksville this week provided an update on 16 sidewalk projects that are in progress across the city.
Sidewalk projects progress through three stages; the design phase, the right-of-way acquisition and construction, according to a city news release.
Currently, nine projects are in the beginning stage, which would be the design phase. These include: Tiny Town Road, Ringgold Road, Richview Road, Beech Street, E Street, Crossland Avenue, Hazelwood Road, and Thornberry Road to Cardinal Lane.
State Highways 48 and 13 are in the design phase as well.
The remaining are in the second stage, the right-of-way acquisition. Throughout this process, the city conducts title searches, property appraisals and individual property negotiation, according to the news release.
These include: Greenwood Avenue, Peachers Mill Road, Old Russellville Pike, Rodeer Drive, Glenhurst Way to Merriweather Road, Golden Eagle Way to Northeast school complex and North Liberty Church Road to Appleton Drive.
No sidewalk projects are in the final phase, which is construction. However, the city reported that several projects are getting close.
Construction grant
In addition to all the projects listed, Greenwood Avenue recently received a $450,000 construction grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, according to the news release.
“Our sidewalk improvement program is a vital component of the City’s overall Transportation 2020+ Master Plan,” said Mayor Joe Pitts in the release. “We fully understand how important it is for the safety of our residents and livability of our neighborhoods, and we are committed to staying on track with it.”
