CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police are investigating a home invasion and shooting that occurred early Friday morning at Prewitt’s Mobile Home Park off Whitfield Road.

According to a news release, the victim, who had severe facial injuries, said two black males broke down his front door and struck him multiple times in the face with a pipe around 5:35 a.m.

The suspects, who were reportedly also armed with a pistol and a machete, allegedly stole a television and medication from the home before heading outside to search the victim’s vehicles.

The victim said one of the suspects fired the pistol at him when he followed them outside. The two suspects then reportedly fled the scene in an old green car.

The victim was taken to Gateway Medical Center for treatment.

Police discovered two .380 caliber shell casings and a length of pipe at the scene. The front door of the mobile home was completely broken off the hinges.

At 6:18 a.m., Gateway personnel told the E911 Center that a patient with a gunshot wound to the stomach was in the emergency room. The patient was identified as 23-year-old Joshua Troope. He was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

After further investigation, police charged 28-year-old Jemonte Ingram with aggravated robbery in the incident. Troope was named an accomplice.

Ingram is in police custody and Troope is still in treatment at Vanderbilt.

Police said it is unclear how Troope was shot in the stomach because the victim and suspects gave conflicting stories.
