MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Two people have been arrested in connection with a home invasion early Wednesday morning.

A news release says deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to a home in the 900 block of Calvert Drive after receiving reports of a home being forcefully entered and a gun being fired.

According to the victim, a female he recognized and an unknown male kicked in his door at approximately 1:40 a.m. and accused him of stealing something from them. When he reached for his phone to dial 911, the male suspect fired a handgun, told him to drop the phone, and then fled the scene.

As Sergeant Evans was en route to provide assistance, he recognized the suspect’s vehicle based on a description provided by the victim. He initiated a traffic stop on Lafayette Rd. and with the assistance from the Clarksville Police Department, took two suspects into custody.

Investigators were called in and both suspects have been charged.

Joshua Overton, 38, was charged with aggravated burglary and reckless endangerment. His bond is $30,000.

Courtney Jones, 24, was charged with aggravated burglary. She has also been charged with unlawful drug paraphernalia and simple drug possession for outstanding warrants on file. Her bond is $33,000.

Investigators were able to recover a shell casing at the scene. A gun matching the caliber of the shell casing was also recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

The victim was not injured during the incident.
