With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Harris of Clarksville, TN, who passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 90.
Shirley was born in Clarksville, TN, on September 17, 1934, to the late Horace M. Lisenbee and Carrie West. She is also preceded in death by her husband Melvin Lee “Buster” Harris and sister, Carolyn Bryant.
Shirley cherished her family and is survived by her sons: Patrick Lee Harris and David B. Harris, daughters: Linda Wortham and Mary Jo Louie, grandchildren: Jami, Whitney, Dea, Stephanie, Ben, Micah, LaRae, and LeeAnne, and her 7 great grandchildren.
Shirley was a woman whose life was defined by her deep love for her family and her unwavering faith. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and her belief in the power of love and grace was evident in all that she did. She served as a volunteer in many churches, working with children, singing, and helping with administrative work. Throughout her life, she found great joy in the companionship of her pet cats, and in earlier years had a special bond with her horses. Shirley was also an avid gardener, and her love for nature extended to her passion for birdwatching. She loved reading and often expressed her creativity through crafts, drawing, and painting. Shirley’s presence brought warmth to those who knew her, and with this memory her love extends through the lives of others.
A celebration of life will be held in Shirley’s honor on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 11:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Mount Pleasant Community Church Cemetery.
