Shellie Robert Teemer Jr was born June 27, 1952, in Albany, Georgia to the late Shellie R. Teemer, Sr and Jannie M. Teemer. Shellie, affectionately known to his family as “Robert”, graduated from Monroe High School where he lettered in sports in football. He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War in April 1972. During his service to our country, he met his beautiful wife of 40 years, Linda, while both of them were stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany in May 1980. Shellie and Linda were joined in holy matrimony on 12 January 1981.

During his 20 years of active duty service while serving in the United States Army he obtained the rank of First Sergeant. His personal awards include Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.

In August 1992, Shellie retired from the United States Army and decided to make Clarksville, TN his home. As he was trying to adjust to civilian life, in his heart he once again felt called to serve. It was then that he began seeking ways to serve as a channel to help build/rebuild local communities of Montgomery County TN-Clarksville. He was able to accomplish this mission by serving as a Deputy Sheriff.

Lt Shellie R. Teemer, Jr started his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1994 as a jail deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2004 and Lieutenant in 2012. After 21 years of service, he retired in 2015. During his time of service with the Sheriff’s Office, he trained, developed, coached, and mentored many deputies at the Sheriff’s Office.

Shellie R.Teemer, Jr leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Linda P. Teemer; son, Keith Lemon; daughter, Carmon J. Teemer; a host of family members including seven siblings, several nieces, and nephews; friends, co-workers, and deputies at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, March 16, at 12:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Monday, March 15, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, and Tuesday, March 16, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
