SGM Robert Sherman Perkins, Sr. (US Army, Retired), age 84 of Clarksville, Tenn. passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021, at his residence.
Robert was born March 27, 1937, to Sherman and Vilda Perkins, in Delta, Utah. He joined the Army in November 1958 at the age of 21 and had 30 years of service before retiring in 1988.
While enlisted, Robert was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many other service medals. He was a proud Vietnam veteran with other overseas tours to Germany (three) and Korea (one).
Perkins was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and shoot with his son and grandsons. He was the best Dad and “Grampy” ever and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Sharon Miller Perkins and Ingeborg Mancini Perkins. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Bonnell, Terri Perkins, Carolyn Hummel and Michelle Waddell; son, Robert Sherman Perkins, Jr.; brother, Dean Perkins; sister, Connie Theobald; seven grandchildren: Kristoffer Hummel, Jeremy Hummel, Sherman Hummel, Misty Hux, Michael Hux, Kimber Ellison, Nicole Davenport and six great-grandchildren: Lyric Hummel, Becca Ann Hummel, Jordan Hux, Aubrey Davis, Carter Marx and Korrey Greene.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Liverworth Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
