SFC (Ret) Louis Arno Begay, age 72 of Big Rock, Tenn. passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021.

Louis was Native American and was a member of the Navajo Tribe in Arizona. He entered into this life on November 23, 1948 in Kanab, Utah to Abe Bahe Begay of the Bitter Water Clan (1905-2006) and Rebecca Denetsosie Begay of the Standing House Clan (1928-2003).

Begay came from a family of five girls and five boys, of which he and his twin brother were third in line of succession. His twin succumbed to COVID-19 in December of 2020.

He was a retiree of the US Army and was assigned to the 160th SOAR. He operated as a mechanic and crew chief, bravely serving three tours of duty in Vietnam.

Begay was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Tucker Begay. He leaves behind his children, John Bosley, Jr., Carroll Ann Tucker, Kathy Darnell; grandchildren, Chris Tucker, Jim Bingerman, Jr., Lindsey Luvender, Brittany Bingerman and Nicholas Bingerman; great-grandchildren, Carter Bingerman, Julius Luvender, Lexi Evans and Cameron Bingerman; elder sister, Arlene B . Salazar (Gene), their four children and six grandchildren; sister, Alberta B. Sanchez (Carlos) four children and four grandchildren; sister, Ameretta B. Yazzie (Herman) three sons & twelve grandchildren; brothers, Abel M. Begay (1953-2016) and Albert V. Begay and sisters, Verda B. Riddle and Brenda B. Tsinnikinnie (Clyde).

A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Graham officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 12 until the hour of service.

Burial will take place at Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Bingerman, Jr., Nicholas Bingerman, Randy Darnell, Sr., Randy Darnell, Jr., Brady Mase and Devin Mase.
