SFC (US Army Retired) Fred Brammer Hinkle, age 84, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Gateway Medical Center.

Fred was born August 4, 1931, in West Hamlin, WV, to the late Shirley Hinkle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jean Hinkle; three brothers; and two sisters.

Fred was a retired Sgt. First Class from the US Army. He served in the Korean Conflict, 187th Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, where he attained two combat jumps and the Bronze Star. He also served in the Vietnam War, where he was a special advisor and attained the Bronze Star. Fred was a Combat Medic and Jump Master, having served in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. He also retired from Trane Company, as the Lead Security Guard.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, January 29, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, January 30, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday, February 1, at 2:00 PM, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville, with full military honors.

Fred is survived by two sons, Richard (Vicki) Hinkle of Hopkinsville, KY and Freddy Hinkle of Clarksville; daughter, Drema (Danny) Baker of Clarksville; seven grandchildren, Brian Hinkle, Fred Hinkle II, Natalie Harbold, Brian Halley, Derek Halley, Loran Baker, and Shelby Baker; and six great grandchildren.
