CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A registered sex offender has been arrested for failing to report his employment as a referee and working several basketball and football games in Montgomery County.
According to arrest warrants, 53-year-old Herman Brown of Woodlawn has been charged with violation of sex offender registration.
The warrants show that Brown became employed as an official with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)/North Middle Tennessee Football Officials Association on Aug. 21, 2015 and failed to report his change in employment.
He also became employed with TSSAA/Middle Tennessee Basketball Officials Association on Nov. 17, 2015 and neglected to report his employment.
The warrants say that Herman worked multiple games with Montgomery County for both organizations.
Brown was previously arrested earlier this year for officiating high schools’ softball games in Robertson County.
The TN Sex Offender Registry shows that Brown was convicted of rape while on active military duty overseas in 2000. His arrest warrant says the conviction was for rape and indecent acts/liberties with a child.
Brown was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was set at $200,000.
