MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The National Weather Service says strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday in Middle TN.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the day.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected. Localized flash flooding could occur Thursday. The threat of flooding will persist through Thursday evening with additional showers and thunderstorms expected.

Storms may become strong to severe throughout the day as a cold front swings in. Hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding are the primary threats, but a few tornadoes are also possible.

Forecasters predict severe weather is most likely from 1-8 p.m. in the Montgomery County area.

As of 1 p.m., radar spotted a line of strong thunderstorms just west of the Tennessee River, headed toward Montgomery and Stewart Counties.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and torrential downpours are possible with these storms.
