Update, 9:50 a.m.: A Tornado Watch has been issued for Montgomery and surrounding counties, along with Christian County and surrounding Kentucky counties, until 3 p.m. today.
A watch means that conditions are right for a tornado to form. If a tornado is spotted, a Tornado Warning will be issued.

Update, 9:40 a.m.: At 9:33 a.m., Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms 12 miles northeast of Erin, moving northeast at 50 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail are possible.
“Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible,” the NWS said.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Storms are expected across Middle Tennessee today, and they could become severe. Damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail are all possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered showers and storms should begin forming late this morning, and the storms will increase in coverage into the afternoon. The timing for severe storms should be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

“Storms could produce damaging winds that could blow down trees, cause power outages, and cause structure damage; tornadoes including strong, long-track tornadoes; large hail that could damage roofs and cars; frequent cloud to ground lightning,” the NWS said.
“Outdoor events may need to enact safety procedures due to fast storm motions and significant impacts.”
