Update: Mitchell is the eighth suspect arrested. Another suspect, Plezhane Von George, was arrested in October 2019, according to court records obtained this week by Clarksville Now.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A seventh man has been arrested and charged with murder in the 2019 Summit Heights shooting death of 32-year-old Joshua Ellis and attempted murder of Joshua Dix.
Hersey Bernard Mitchell, 30, was arrested Tuesday. In addition to first-degree murder, he was charged with conspiracy and two weapon charges.

Mitchell was taken into custody by agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, according to a news release from Detective Michael Patterson with the Clarksville Police Department.
At approximately 9 p.m. on July 21, 2019, police responded to a shooting on Givens Lane. When they arrived, Ellis was found lying on the ground with gunshot injuries. He was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a Nashville hospital. He died from his injuries the next morning.
That same night, around 9:15 p.m., Dix was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Summit Heights. He was also taken by LifeFlight to a Nashville hospital for his injuries, where he was treated and then released to recover.
Along with Mitchell, Lewis Timmons, Kaleb Wilson, Kamren Bennett, Dorris Acree, Anthony Spencer and Jaquan Dawes, all of Clarksville, were charged in both shootings in September 2019.
Timmons and Acree bonded out last year, while Wilson and Bennett remain incarcerated. Dawes and Spencer are also out on bond, but were ordered to stay with family, have no contact with their co-defendants, and wear a GPS ankle monitor.
All six men who were charged in 2019 have an upcoming court hearing on Feb. 10 related to the case.
