CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW)- Two men are scheduled to be sentenced for the shooting death of a 21-year-old Clarksville man.
Tavarius Goliday and Michael Mimms stood trial in Judge William Goodman’s court for the murder of 21-year-old Antonio “Tinka” Henson who was shot to death on Kellogg Street on January 21, 2017, just three days after his 21st birthday.
On Jan. 21, 2017 at approximately 3 p.m., Henson was found lying in the middle of Kellogg Street with multiple gunshot wounds to his back. He was taken to Tennova hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following a January 2020 jury trial, Goliday was found guilty as charged of premeditated first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and reckless endangerment.
Mimms was found guilty of the lesser charge of facilitation to commit first-degree murder and guilty as charged of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
A third man, Davayon Head, was acquitted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Goliday received an automatic 51 year sentence to serve at 100 % for the first-degree murder conviction, but will be sentenced on his other charges.
Goliday and Mimms are scheduled to be sentenced in Judge Goodman’s court on May 13, 2020.
Due to COVID-19, strict guidelines must be followed in the courtroom. There will only be 10 people allowed in the courtroom at a time.
A staggered docket schedule was created to prevent a crowded courtroom.
According to the docket, the case will be possibly be taken up at 8:30 a.m., when those with attorneys have their cases heard, or at 10:30 a.m., when those incarcerated have their cases heard.
